Dormers

Dormer windows will increase the roof space at full head height. Dormer windows are more usually added to the rear of the house but, if you get planning permission, you can add them to the front or side of your home.
A full-width dormer adds a full head height across the whole of one side of your roof, and an L-shape dormer is suitable for Victorian houses with a rear extension, with one dormer added on the main part of the house and another on the rear extension.

Velux

A velux loft conversion is the cheapest option and doesn’t need a lot of building work. With a conversion of the existing loft space you will require just a few alterations to the roof. You will need to have the floor strengthened and suitable insulation added, with new windows set into the existing roof slope.

Mansard

This type of conversion requires extensive building work with a full removal and build conversion. As with this extra amount work involved it’ll obviously cost a little more but, given that no other type of loft conversion will give you as much added space, it might be worth it.

Extensions

If you have the space, a rear extension can have a huge impact on the very nature of your house. This type of house extension allows you to open your kitchen up to your back garden, creating a stunning open plan area that can be utilised as a combined kitchen, dining and living area. Adding large patio doors really helps to open up and combine the interior living space with your garden.
